IECEx Hazardous Duty Magnetic Encoder, Heavy Duty 8.5" Modular

The heavy-duty modular encoder XR850 was created to do rid of bearings, which are the main reason why encoders fail. Instead of using a bearing-supported rotor and optical disc, it installs sensors directly onto the machine shaft using magnetoresistive sensing, thus even under extreme vibration, stress, or contamination, nothing will wear out or crash. It is designed for large-frame drilling and industrial equipment and is sized to fit NEMA 8.5" flanges and shafts up to 4 1/2". It installs straight without a barrier or isolator for ATEX/IECEx Zone 2 & 22 or UL Class I Division 2 use; for Zone 1 & 21 or Division 1/Zone 0 applications, it can be paired with the XRB3 isolator to enable intrinsically safe wire rather than explosion-proof conduit. Because the modular XR5 sensor is field-swappable, it is possible to repair a damaged sensor without taking the encoder out of the shaft.
